about
"Oh My!" came about through the idea of being involved in a relationship, (whether platonic or romantic) with someone who is passive-aggressive, and a slave to their trust issues. Someone who has a difficult time acknowledging their emotions or letting themselves be vulnerable. Instead they build up walls and push people out to avoid the possibility of feeling pain or heartbreak.
I think we as humans often forget that people can't read minds; even with our heightened emotions and thoughts. Almost as if we believe that the energy of the things we think and feel are so powerful, that others would be crazy or ignorant not to know what's happing behind a expressionless face and a silent mouth. Unfortunately, we are not telepathic.
I wrote this song to capture the frustration of being left in the dark. What it's like to be on the receiving end of being mislead and manipulated, but also understanding that there is more than one side to every story. Everyone should have a chance to explain where they are coming from.
COMMUNICATION IS KEY!!!
Hope someone out there can relate to what I'm saying. Enjoy!
lyrics
Little town in a snow belt
Fell in and out of love by a beach house
You hid your thoughts well with a tough shell
Thought you couldn't be hurt if you cut her out
You wrote some real things but spared words
It was the good and the ugly in a sad verse
Watched the trees wilt and the sun burn
When pushing everyone away became a patten
Oh my, oh my, oh my
Talk to me
Didn't know you felt deeper than you showed through your teeth
Talk to me
Never meant what you said, didn't say what you mean
I know you wanted to let it be
But come talk to me
Watched the rain fall, after a long haul
Once disowned and a place will alway be too small
It didn't fair well, so farewell
To all the things you felt, but you would never tell
You hid your thoughts well on the top shelf
Out of sight, out of mind, high on a comedown
Oh my, oh my, oh my
Talk to me
Didn't know you felt deeper than you showed through your teeth
Talk to me
Never meant what you said, didn't say what you mean
I know you wanted to let it be
But come talk to me
Oh my x8
Talk to me
Didn't know you felt deeper than you showed through your teeth
Talk to me
Never meant what you said, didn't say what you mean
I know you wanted let it be
But come talk to me
